Bret Gallaway

Bret is a change management and communications leader across sectors. He is a problem solver who brings strategic, creative, and candid counsel to the C-Suite. He has been an executive counselor to CEOs and boards at leading organizations, helping to guide them through brand overhauls, cultural transformations, and numerous crises.

As Chief Communications and Marketing Officer at Trinity Health, Bret led communications through a major national merger, several acquisitions, three CEO changes, and ongoing operational restructuring. He also built the unified marketing and communications team and infrastructure.

Previously, Bret led communications teams and strategies as an executive at USAA and Morgan Stanley. He started his career as a Presidential Appointee in Washington, DC, serving as the speech writer for the U.S. Secretary of the Treasury and then as Director of Intergovernmental Affairs for the U.S. Treasury Department.

Bret has a master’s degree in public policy from Georgetown University and a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Marquette University. He is Chair of the Cody High School (Detroit) Advisory Board, served as an election official during the 2020 Presidential Election, and has published several articles on communications strategy and leadership.
